I love twilight

I took my puppy for a walk this evening. The south western area of the sky was still a bit pink, orange, and light blue, and the rest of the sky was a midnight blue illuminated by the moon and a few stars.  It was beautiful!!  It doesn't matter what time of day it is, God finds a way to make it stunning.  Not only is His creation practical, but it's filled with beauty which I believe is a reflection of how much He loves us.

Christian sisters

Last night was my ladies class's last Beth Moore DVD study from the series "Wising Up". It was an amazing study to say the least.  Beth discussed issues of marriage, parenting, work, friendships, sex, words, patience etc.  In the end, the main conclusion I drew from her lessons was trust trust trust.  Trust God in every way, and in every situation, and surrender each  area of life to Him.  Also, wisdom isn't of the mind, it comes in through our hearts and through God's word. It isn't something we just study, but we can attain it by growing closer to God.
The time of reflection and sharing with my Christian sisters was just was special to me as the DVD study.  I got to learn so much about the friends and mentors that I go to church with.  It's a real witness to me to hear of their past struggles and triumphs, and to see where they are with God and how they utilize His power to make it through any situation that comes.

Hope comes in the morning

The human mind is a wonderful, complex, and sometimes annoying thing. I was awake til 4 am this morning trying to shut off my mind and stop letting dumb thoughts enter it.  Something about the middle of the night when you can't sleep...it brings this type of despair to me that makes every issue bigger and every problem uglier.  And after some sleep and the sun comes up, the BIG problems either melt away, or shrink...or I become more sane.  Either way, I know it is a gift from God that he created morning as this wonderful new beginning with a fresh slate, and often a better attitude.  He knows just what I need and when I need it...how can I still doubt sometimes?!  I praise you Lord for providing for every need. Jehovah Jireh!

Waiting for an answer

Lately, we have been seriously thinking of a northern posting, and I have been praying about it daily.  Even though I have had a relationship with God most of my life, I still sometimes wonder how He will choose to answer my prayer.  I wonder if He'll do it through a person, a message, through conviction (a feeling), or just by allowing the opportunity to come to us. I want to make sure that we know exactly what God wants before making a huge, life-changing decision...because He is the Author and Creator of my life, so He knows much more than I do about what will bring me joy and a good life.

So the prayer continues. Lord, please show us Your way and Your will in all situations, but particularly with our decision to go North or not.  If it's Your will, show us clearly, and keep our ears and hearts open for your answer.  We desire Your will and not our own to be done.  Amen.

8 Months in Review

Today, Devin and I have been married for 8 whole months.  The time has flown by...When I woke up this morning I was thinking of all of the new things that have come about in my life. A new husband, a new province, a new apartment, then a new house, a new puppy, a new church, lots of new friends...and the list goes on....I'm so blessed!  I like to review my past every once in awhile to get my bearings and also to remember how very blessed I am.

A Prayer for Haiti

Dear Lord Jesus,

It's been 10 days since the earthquake, and hopes are dwindling and hearts are hurting in Haiti. My prayer tonight is for You to restore hope to every man, woman, and child in Haiti.  Send your Holy Spirit and move in that country as never before.  May those believers who know and love You be used as vessels for You, as Your hands and feet.  Lord, I ask for comfort and peace for those who are homeless, injured, orphaned, or alone.  For those who may still be buried in the mess, Father, may they hear Your voice and KNOW they are not alone...give them the peace that passes all understanding.  You alone can provide this power, hope and peace. I praise you for the people in Haiti, or those who have travelled there who are offering help, love, medical care, money and encouragement.  Let them not tire from doing these great works; bless them for their efforts and refresh them each new day.  I pray that the fundraiser happening now, Canada for Haiti, would bring in a large amount of money, and Canadians would feel the need to give generously from the riches you have blessed us with.  Let the money reach the places it is most needed in Haiti and not misused by any organization or government.  Place your hand on Haiti and please guide this relief effort.  Thank you in advance for all You are going to do Lord. I love you.

Amen
